Every Tannery Club shoe is cut and stitched by hand, so sizing runs true to the Indian foot. Measure once with the steps below and use our IN/UK, US, EU and centimetre charts to order with confidence.
Step by step
How to measure your foot at home
All you need is a sheet of paper, a pencil and a ruler. Measure both feet — most people have one slightly larger foot — and size to the larger measurement.

Trace your foot
Stand on a sheet of paper on a hard floor, weight evenly spread, and trace around your foot with the pencil held straight up.

Measure the length
Draw a line from the tip of the longest toe to the back of the heel. Measure this line in centimetres — this is your foot length.

Measure the width
Mark the widest points across the ball of your foot and measure straight across, in centimetres.

Match it to the chart
Use your longer foot's length in the tables below to find your Indian/UK size, and cross-check with US or EU if that's what you usually buy.
Measure in the evening, when feet are at their largest, and wear the socks you'll typically pair with the shoe. Leather uppers ease and mould to your foot over the first 2–3 wears, so a snug-but-not-tight fit out of the box is correct.

Indian sizing matches UK sizing for both men and women. Use foot length in centimetres for the most accurate result.

Children's feet grow roughly half a size every two to three months up to age 5. Re-measure before every new-season purchase rather than relying on the last size bought.
For everyday school and play shoes, leave a thumb's width (about 1–1.2 cm) of growing room between the longest toe and the front of the shoe.

What to do if you're between sizes
Half sizes
Tannery Club soles are cut in full sizes only. If your measurement falls exactly between two sizes, we recommend sizing up rather than down.
Wide or narrow feet
For a wide forefoot, size up half a size for room across the ball of the foot. Narrow feet can be cinched snugger in our lace-up derbies and monk straps.
Boots vs. sandals
Closed boots are cut true to size for a sock-in fit. Open sandals and kolhapuris run closer — many customers size up half a size for these styles.

A well-made leather shoe fits differently to a synthetic one — here's what to expect as yours settles in.
Expect a break-in period
Full-grain leather softens and shapes to your foot over 2–3 wears. Order your true measured size — leather stretches slightly with wear, but will not shrink.
Mind the socks
Thin dress socks and thick woollen socks can shift your fit by half a size. Try shoes on with the socks you actually intend to wear with them.
Try shoes on later in the day
Feet swell up to half a size by evening. If you can only measure in the morning, consider rounding up if you're between two sizes.

Sizing questions, answered
Is Indian shoe size the same as UK size?
Yes. For both men's and women's footwear, Indian sizing follows the UK scale exactly — a UK 8 and an Indian 8 are the same last. It's US and EU sizing that differ, so always check foot length in centimetres if you normally shop in those scales.
My foot measures exactly between two sizes — which do I order?
Size up. Our leather uppers ease with wear, so a shoe that's a touch generous on day one will settle into a comfortable fit; a shoe that's tight at the toe box won't stretch enough to fix that.
Do sizes vary between styles — sneakers, formal shoes, sandals?
Slightly. Closed lace-ups and boots are cut true to the charts above. Sandals, kolhapuris and slip-ons are cut a little closer to the foot; if you're between sizes for one of these, we'd recommend sizing up.
I don't have a printer — can I measure without printing a size chart?
Yes — you only need a plain sheet of paper, a pencil and a ruler or measuring tape. Follow the four steps in the "How to measure" section above; no printed template is required.
What if the size I ordered doesn't fit?
Every pair can be exchanged for a different size within our returns window, provided it's unworn and in its original box. Visit "Track Order" or contact us to start an exchange.
